A Culinary & Artistic Blend
MASSALÉ is the original spice blend. Florence (vocals, percussion) and David (percussion, composition) deliver a musical performance that is raw, participatory, authentic, and interactive.
Massalé is a spice blend from Réunion Island with Indian roots, yet it is unique to the island—distinct from the "Masala" found in India. Every family guards its own secret recipe, making every blend one-of-a-kind. Our artists invite the audience to share in a unique artistic and culinary massalé. Through our outreach workshops, participants are encouraged to concoct their very own blend.

Creating live performance is about fostering emotion and connection, while remaining deeply aware of the world around us. For this project, we have placed environmental and social responsibility at the core of our artistic and logistical choices to keep our footprint as light as possible.
Set & Costumes: Priority given to eco-design, second-hand, and upcycling. Sets and costumes are made exclusively from recycled, sustainable, or bio-based materials.
Mobility & Touring: Optimized routes, low-carbon transport for the team, shared freight logistics, and streamlined stage gear to keep transport minimal.
Print & Media: Drastic reduction of printed materials in favor of digital communication.
Sound & Energy: Mindful energy management with minimal amplification, especially in intimate venues.

The guardian of rhythm and Tramay’s signature groove, David has many surprises in store for this new show, where he showcases his talent for movement. David has trained generations of moringueurs (moringue practitioners) and dances the maloya with authentic Creole swing. He has also been a dedicated yoga practitioner for many years.
Florence—choreographer, dancer, and singer—also masters small percussion instruments. Her creativity has flourished throughout her career as a choreographer with her company, Maloya Métiss (see the dedicated page on this site), and through her leadership within the group Tramay. She manages the association's projects with courage and strength, always driven by a passion for discovery and sharing.
A long-standing member of the group Tramay, Nicolas trained at the École des Musiques Actuelles (EMA) in Reunion Island—where he now passes on his expertise as an instructor. In this show, he plays a warm, witty, and endlessly resourceful character.
