Do you dream about discovering or perfecting your Maloya while developing your own style?
Flo & David offer you a training that will take you through:
- basic theoretical tools: history of Reunion Island linked to Maloya (sources, essential
notions...)
- basic or more elaborate musical technical tools, according to your level
- technical tools for improvisation and choreographic composition adapted to your level
- work in small groups and collectives in the spirit of "partaz" (sharing) of Maloya
- learning with experienced artists
- an artistic framework in line with Flo & David's artistic projects
David offers coaching to professionals and amateurs in Reunionese, Indian, African, and mixed
percussion.
Flo has an original approach to traditional disciplines such as yoga, Kalaripayat and Moring, as
well as contemporary dance thanks to her varied experience as a choreographer-dancer. Her
university training also allows her to nourish theoretical contributions that she supports with
resources: archives, books, videos.
Flo & David develop an inclusive and participative method while leaving space to the
participants to take the initiative and stimulate them by a progressive practice.
"A full-day immersion into the heart of Maloya—music, lyrics, history, and movement. A talented and passionate duo created a warm and sharing atmosphere. I loved it!" - Eléonore
* Mixed Dance & Music: "The blend of dance and music was natural and effective. I, as a percussionist, would have loved even more playing time, but the balance was good." - Jérôme
* Dance Workshop: "Well-paced, with clear explanations of theory, history, technique, and movement. The connection to music is essential, allowing analysis of structure and lyrics." - Nat.
* David's Workshop: "David fosters a great group spirit, with attentive listening, precision, and patience." - Maud, music teacher
* David's Workshop: "A nurturing workshop. David is a true pedagogue." - Sandra, musician
* David's Workshop: "Amazing! David passionately transmits Maloya—technically, culturally, and historically. I appreciated the complete learning experience (technical, theoretical, practical), the progression through different pieces, and the warm welcome." - Amandine, musician
A renowned percussionist, he plays African, Reunionese, Afro-Cuban as well as Indian percussions (tablas and mridangam). He has been learning South Indian classical music through percussions and the Indian flute for more than 10 years. David has also been teaching percussion and moring (local martial art) for over 30 years!
Trained at the Free Dance Song school in Paris, Florence has created her own style through over 20 years of experience creating and working with audiences with her dance Compagny, Maloya Métiss, and other organizations. But the influence of kalari has changed her approach to movement and life. An enthusiast of art and dance of all cultures, she is also self-taught in art crafts. Her company has enabled her to create multidisciplinary pieces in which music plays an essential role. With Tramay, she becomes both singer and dancer since 2018. She trains herself in carnatic singing for stage preparation.
