Two school shows followed by discussions about the legacy of slavery and our group's work on cross-cultural music took place within this framework. Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at 1:30 PM, Ambroise Vollard School, St Pierre Thursday, March 25, 2021, Tamarin College at 2:15 PM https://memoire-esclavage.org/ An attentive and enthusiastic audience gave the group a standing ovation. Our video report: Link to video A photo report was conducted by Leaf Arvie, a photographer of our collective. With Tamarin College, the adventure did not stop there. At Tamarin College, students participated: they played and sang with Tramay. Florence & David were also invited by Tamarin College to participate in the creation of a video created by the students as part of their participation in the La Flamme de l'Égalité competition. Thus, their concert with the Slavery Remembrance Foundation Label was part of a global approach by the teaching staff who wanted to involve the children in an in-depth work on slavery. The children won the academic competition! The documentary "Slavery is on the Program" L’Esclavage est au Programme: In addition, a report, filmed by Corinne Russo, was made. It tells in particular about the participation of the children of the college in the competition and especially the way in which the teachers transmitted to them a fundamental page of History. Florence & David appear coaching the students in this documentary which also features an excerpt from their new single, Krié, Komandèr.
Brijesh Sirsarker and Balakrishna Kamath were invited by the group to contribute to the track Krié, Komander, which was originally composed about ten years ago for the play Krié by the Maloya Métiss Company, directed by Florence Latappy. Flo and David then reimagined the song as a duo with the company in 2017, adding some lyrics and creating an innovative arrangement with the group. The teaser video was created by Julie Boisson, with photos by Leaf Arvie. The recording and mixing were done by Cédric Corrieri. This project was generously supported by the Réunion Region and Studio RMR.
