A way of life...

And painter

Harmelle Baret has been part of our collective since the creation of the Association. She has participated in various projects of the Maloya Métiss Company and the Tramay Group.

Harmelle Baret was born in December 1941 in the village of Salazie, at the Hell Bourg spa, where her father was managing the facilities. A few years later, her father was transferred to Saint-Paul. The author grew up in this city being the oldest sister of a large group of siblings. After her A-level, major in philosophy obtained with honors, and attending the “Ecole Normale” (teacher training college) of Reunion Island capital Saint-Denis, she teaches as a Professor of Letters-English, in various colleges around the island. She decided to change her career and obtained a State Diploma in Social Work at the “Ecole des Sciences Humaines” (Humans science university) in Nice. In the 70's, she moved to the Paris area and worked in a psychiatric hospital. Passionate about art and literature, she practiced theater and painting and regularly exhibited her works. Since her retirement, she shares her time between painting, reading, and writing. .
